Community Event

DisCo Social Event: Bringing the Disability Community Together

PPL is hosting a DisCo Social Event and members of the disability community are invited to attend! DisCo stands for “Disability Community. These events are focused around creating a third space for people with disabilities (and their loved ones) to come together and find community. There are no costs or requirements to attend, people are welcome to join for a little bit or stay for the full two hours.

The event is Thursday, September 17, October 15, and November 19, 2026, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Youth Art Series

Youth ages 6-12 are invited to join Access Leisure on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm for an Art Series! Attendees will practice a new art skill, engage with history and technique of the artist for that day, and then try that medium out themselves.

Mosaic Minds: Family STEM Build and Play Day

Mosaic Minds is hosting a STEM Build and Play Day on Saturday, November 21 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm! This is a family-friendly, inclusive community event designed to provide children, teens, and individuals of all abilities, including those with autism, ADHD, and intellectual and developmental disabilities, opportunities to explore STEM through hands-on, sensory-friendly activities.

Hosted by Future for Our Kids

Families and caregivers of Alta California Regional Center are invited to a virtual Lunch and Learn presentation hosted by Future for Our Kids on Friday, December 4, 2026, from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. Join them as Michael Pearce (Founder of ANYA/Tenerra, Inc. and former local, longtime special needs attorney) introduces ANYA – the new AI built tool that answers the question “How will others know what to do for my child when I can’t be there?”

Supported Decision Making (SDM) Training for Clients and Families

Clients and families are invited to participate in a virtual Supported Decision Making (SDM) Training. Supported Decision-Making is a process that allows adults with disabilities to make choices about their own lives with support from a team of people they choose. Individuals with disabilities choose people they know and trust to be part of a support network to help with decision-making.

Website Portfolio and Content Creation Workshop

for Service Providers of Alta California Regional Center

Service Providers of Alta California Regional Center are invited to a Website Portfolio and Content Creation Workshop hosted by Integrated Resources Institute on:

  • Thursday, December 3, 2026, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm,
  • Thursday, December 10, 2026, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, or
  • Thursday, December 17, 2026, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.

The workshops are free to attend and are held via Zoom. Registration is required.

Community Event

Sensory Friendly Winter Wonderland

Mosaic Minds Foundation creates sensory-friendly, educational, creative and community-based experiences designed to help neurodivergent individuals learn, connect, explore and enjoy new experiences. They are hosting a Sensory Friendly Winter Wonderland on Saturday, December 19, 2026, from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm! All ages are welcome to enjoy lights, sensory stations, winter crafts, activities, and more.

Self-Determination Program Orientation

Department of Developmental Services (DDS) has partnered with State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) to provide a statewide orientation and training to all participants and families who are interested in participating in the Self-Determination Program (SDP). The Statewide Self-Determination Program Orientation is offered in two parts. Each part is two hours. You must complete both parts before beginning the SDP transition.

REACh Sunrise Support Groups

Resources, Education, and Advocacy for Children

REACh sponsors support groups for families of children with special needs. Their support groups are designed to help families connect with other caregivers in similar situations. Families with children of all ages and abilities are welcome.
