Adult Swim and Hang

Adults (+18) with developmental and intellectual disabilities are invited to attend a Swim and Hang with Access Leisure on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch or snack to eat after swimming. Access Leisure will have additional activities other than pool time as well. Registration is required.

Each fiscal year, Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) submits its plan to the Development of Developmental Services (DDS) for Community Resource Development Plan (CRDP) development. CRDP development addresses the service and support needs of individuals living in the community to avoid locked or highly restrictive settings. The projects ACRC requests are based on the goals listed below and ACRC Stakeholder input.

Your feedback can shape the Early Start workforce!

The California Policy Center for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (CPCIDD) is a non-partisan, non-profit policy center established to conduct research and identify best practices that inform, support, and improve upon statewide policies that impact the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in California. It is in the final stages of completing their report and need family participation in completing their survey and/or participating in focus groups.

Inclusive Playdates

Join Access Leisure at the Universal Universe playground for an inclusive playdate available to youth of all abilities, ages 3-12! The playdates occur on a monthly basis from June – August.

Natomas Monthly Community Walk for Autism and Disability Acceptance

Join Natomas Parents C.A.A.R.E (Community, Autism, Acceptance, Resources, Empowerment) for a monthly walk to provide community and support for families. This monthly walk is held on the third Sunday of every month at 8:30 am with upcoming dates on July 19, August 16, and September 20, 2026

36th Anniversary Celebration of the Americans with Disabilities Act

To celebrate the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), join the Department of Rehabilitation, Disability Rights California, the Department of Developmental Services, and the California Department of Social Services for a Walk and Roll event and Resource Fair on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 9:15 am – 11:30 am.

All are welcome to attend the Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm in-person or virtually. Virtual attendance requires registration.

Parks and Big Trucks

Join Auburn Recreation District for their new Parks and Big Trucks Day on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, where kids and adults alike can explore and touch every truck imaginable. From fire trucks with their shiny red allure to the mighty bulldozers that shape our world, it’s a hands-on experience like no other!

As an added bonus, jump in Sierra Pool and cool down with the FREE family swim day!

Self-Determination Advisory Committee (SDAC) Meeting

The Self-Determination Advisory Committee (SDAC) plays an important role in the implementation and oversight of the Self Determination Program. Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) and the SDAC work collaboratively to prioritize the use of implementation funds to meet the needs of participants in our catchment area. SDAC membership is comprised of clients, family members and community members appointed by ACRC and the State Council on Developmental Disabilities.

Supported Decision Making (SDM) Training for Clients and Families

Clients and families are invited to participate in a virtual Supported Decision Making (SDM) Training. Supported Decision-Making is a process that allows adults with disabilities to make choices about their own lives with support from a team of people they choose. Individuals with disabilities choose people they know and trust to be part of a support network to help with decision-making.

REACh Sunrise Support Groups

Resources, Education, and Advocacy for Children

REACh sponsors support groups for families of children with special needs. Their support groups are designed to help families connect with other caregivers in similar situations. Families with children of all ages and abilities are welcome.
