Ethan

Native American Heritage Month

Post

Ethan is proud to have graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 2019. Afterwards, he attended a day program for three years and recently he got a job at Story Winery. At the winery, Ethan has various responsibilities that allow him to work heavy machinery like the forklift and tractor. During harvest season, when the winery harvests the grapes from the vineyard, Ethan works full time hours. Working has given him independence which he values greatly. Another benefit that comes from working at the winery is that Ethan works with his father, Rob, who is the Executive Wine Maker. Together they can enjoy the work they do and cheer each other on.

Besides taking pride in his work, Ethan is proud of his heritage as a member of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, which is comprised of the Coast Miwok and Pomo people. As a member, Ethan attends the General Council meetings every two months to learn about tribal updates and interact with family and friends. Ethan enjoys the food he experiences during the meetings.

Native American Heritage Month is important to Ethan and his family but for them, they live their heritage all year long. Staying connected with tribal members, enjoying their cultural food, gathering with their family, and celebrating their culture is a part of them throughout the year.

When he is not working or hanging out with family, Ethan enjoys playing video games, in particular, simulators where he can drive planes, trains, and cars. Ethan has set a goal to get his driver’s license and has begun practicing. Once he accomplishes this goal, he hopes to get a Mini Cooper S.
