Derek

Derek is long term gamer and has a goal to bring people with disabilities together in a safe online community. He has enjoyed playing video games since 2003 when his brother introduced him to Game Cube. His love of video games merged with his love of technology in 2005 when he started learning about it during his special education classes. Since then, Derek has been passionate about technological advancements and understanding it.

For two years, Derek worked on building an online community on Discord, a platform where users can communicate through chat, voice and video calls, text messaging, media, and files. He set up the community to create a place where people with disabilities who enjoy playing video games can have a safe place to discuss and chat about the games they play and build friendships. Derek is very proud of his achievement and enjoys being the founder of the group.

One of his favorite video games to play is Flight Simulator because he can virtually fly a variety of aircrafts and he loves the visual experience it gives him. Playing video games provides Derek comfort, a hobby, and relaxation. He hopes to introduce more people like him to video games and his community.
