TransparencyRecruiting adults with siblings with ASD to participate in a study
Adults aged 18 years or older who have at least one sibling diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and who do not have a diagnosis of ASD themselves are invited to participate in a study conducted by Carmen Aguilar, a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) Candidate at Loma Linda University School of Behavioral Health.
Purpose of the study:
The purpose of this study is to better understand sibling experiences and contribute to the development of more inclusive, sibling-focused supports and services.
Participating in the study:
Participation involves a one 60–90-minute interview focused on experiences related to coping, resilience, support systems, and overall well-being. Participants may choose to complete the interview in person in a private, enclosed office or virtually via Zoom. Participants will receive a $20 gift card only after the completion of the interview as a token of appreciation for their time.
Participation is completely voluntary, and every reasonable effort will be made to protect the confidentiality of the information you provide. However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed when disclosure is required by law. This study has been approved by the Loma Linda University Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Requirements to participate:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Have at least one sibling diagnosed with ASD and do not have a diagnosis of ASD yourself.
- Reside in Sacramento County or a neighboring community
