To mark the 35th anniversary of the signing of the ADA into law, the Department of Rehabilitation along with Disability Rights California, the Department of Developmental Services, and the Department of Social Services, are celebrating with an in-person event at the State Capitol on Tuesday, July 22 from 10:30 am – 11:30 am!

Medicaid Cuts Are No Longer Just A Proposal – They Are Now Law

Join the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) for a training and town hall to learn what is in the final bill, when changes take effect, and next steps for people with disabilities, developmental disabilities, and older adults. After the training, SCDD will open the floor for a listening session where you can share your thoughts, concerns, and experiences.

Summer Institute on Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Conference

Join UC Davis MIND Institute for the 2025 Summer Institute on Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Conference on Friday, July 25 from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm! The conference brings together professionals, researchers, self-advocates, family members, disability advocates, policy makers, community members, and students for a day of learning and collaboration. 

The conference will feature a keynote speech, an autism-focused panel, and interactive workshops covering vital topics.

Back-to-School Resource Fair

Join Hmong Youth and Parents United (HYPU) for a Back-to-School Resource Fair on Sunday, August 1 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm! The event will have backpack giveaways, free food and drink vouchers for the first 50 youth, and resources for families and children. Registration is required.

Supported Decision Making Training

Supported Decision Making (SDM) is a process that allows adults with disabilities to make choices about their own lives with support from a team of people they choose. Individuals with developmental disabilities choose people they know and trust to be part of a support network to help with decision-making.

Join us for a training on SDM on August 26, 2025 virtually from 10:30 am – 11:30 am. For those who attend the virtual training, you can attend an in-person workshop from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Seating is limited.

Self-Determination Advisory Committee Meeting

The Self-Determination Advisory Committee (SDAC) plays an important role in the implementation and oversight of the Self Determination Program. Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) and the SDAC work collaboratively to prioritize the use of implementation funds to meet the needs of participants in our catchment area. SDAC membership is comprised of clients, family members and community members appointed by ACRC and the State Council on Developmental Disabilities.

Resources, Education, and Advocacy for Children

REACh sponsors support groups for families of children with special needs. Their support groups are designed to help families connect with other caregivers in similar situations. Families with children of all ages and abilities are welcome.
