TrailAble: A Mobility Demo Day

Community Event

Spending time outdoors is great for mental and physical health but for people living with disabilities or limited mobility, outdoor activities aren’t always accessible. Please join Placer Land Trust for a special day to give people with disabilities access to the outdoors on Sunday, March 22 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm provided by McIlwain Mobility Solutions. This local organization, committed to providing resources for independent living, is making available a large variety of mobility devices to “test drive” outdoors.

These devices may include:

  • Trackchair Axis 40
  • Trackchair Axis 30
  • TrackStander TR
  • EcoRover 29.5 Wide
  • EcoRover 40.5
  • Traxx Rover, Zoom Chair
  • OMEO Wheelchair with Offroad Package
  • Swincar Single
  • Swincar Tandum

Who can participate?

This event is for anyone who is disabled and want to spend time outdoors and people who support them. Participants must be at least 16 years old to demonstrate the devices, but friends and family of all ages are welcome.  Participants will also need to be able to transfer on their own, or with the assistance of their guardian/caregiver. Sorry, no dogs are allowed unless they are service animals due to the potential conflicts with livestock and wildlife.

Registration Information:

Placer Land Trust’s Laursen Bear River Preserve South in Auburn is not open to the public, so registration is required in advance and close on Thursday, March 20 at 5:00 pm (the Thursday prior to the event). Space is limited, and registration can close earlier if maximum capacity is met.

Directions to the Preserve will be emailed after registration. Check your spam folder if you do not receive the email within 15 minutes of registering. General location: Laursen Bear River Preserve South, Auburn.
